NDT Robotics

Since 2008, Technical Solutions 24 Seven has been a major player in NDT system building, providing advanced ultrasonic inspection robot systems. Our creations utilize core modules of the Stäubli RX 60 and the CS 8 controller. These systems maintain a seamless connection to Utex InspectionWare via packet data, facilitated over TCP/IP Ethernet. Such a configuration enables real-time positional mapping, which is overlaid onto the C scan to generate a 3D Ultrasonic Testing (UT) inspection. This technology achieves intricate polar interpolation, capable of showcasing defects as minor as 2/64 FBH (flat bottom hole).

Technical Solutions 24 Seven has developed an ultrasonic evaluation method specifically for testing materials used in aerospace component manufacturing. This procedure is accomplished via a technique known as multi-zone inspection. Our latest solution involves a unique testing machine, now with the client. This system features a large stainless steel tank, built into a steel frame and equipped with a robot gantry mechanism that moves the length of the machine. The machine weighs 9 tonnes, which increases to 19 tonnes once filled with water, necessary for the operation of the ultrasonics.

Multiple teams at Technical Solutions 24 Seven contributed to the achievement of this project, with inputs from departments like electrical and mechanical design, software development, and motion control engineering. The entire system was assembled and tested in-house before delivery to the customer. Additionally, the machine meets the rigorous standards of modern aerospace manufacturing, capable of detecting subtle changes in material grain and imperfections as small as 0.4mm.
